Film making 102 - process documentary
Introduction:
For this part of the project, we had to make a mini documentary that was 60 secs long that showed the process of something that someone did, and for this i chose Freya's ballet.
For my process documentary i am doing it about Freya's ballet class. I will be going to her class on Tuesday 8th Feb to film the process of her going to and participating in the class.
I will be doing this by filming Freya getting ready and doing her dance class.
In the first section of the process documentary i did Freya getting her back ready and packed to go, following by her getting a drink and getting in the car etc. Then she was walking up the stairs and entering. The doc involved of her from beginning and end of the dance class, bar and floor.
The things i did well on this music video were the camera work however it could been landscape which could have made it better.

evaluation:
Overall, I enjoyed making this documentary and the project itself. It was quite easy to do although there were some challenges. One challenge i had was when filming parts of the dance lesson. i had to do it in portrait as i could not get the other people from the lesson in my video. This task definitely improved my editing skills as it took a lot of watching and making sure all of the clips were in the right order when putting them together. I would also say this improved my camera work skills as i had to make sure not to get anyone but freya in my videos and to follow her quickly while she was dancing. My role in this task was the director, camera operator and editor.

The pot noodle
introduction:
For this part of film making 102, we had to do a step by step video, (completed action) which showed the routine of something happening. we had to film each step and edit it together.
For this task This part was me making a pot noodle. It was the process of making it and following through all the steps. Some things i think i did well on this was the edit as the fading and transitions were good. Some things i could improve on were the deadlines as i completed this a day late.
evaluation
overall, i think that this task was quite quick and easy to do, and it was quite enjoyable as it was fast moving. Some things i could have done better was getting more steps in and showing more little details on how things were done. Some skills i improved on during this task was my camera work skills and shot types, as you had to film it from all different angles and make sure to keep everything in frame. I think overall this task was more pressure to do as everything had to be done in one go, and you didnt get a second chance on it, this was similar to the process documentary. This didnt take me very long to film as it isnt a long process, however it took a little longer to edit together as i had to make sure the clips alligned.
A target i set myself for this is my camera work, although it helped me improve, i would say it still needs more work and this is another way i would have improved my video and it would have made it easier to edit.

Two person conversation
The task for this was to film a conversation between two people which included a flashback to do with the conversation.For this one, Me Jack and Bailey did a two conversation of deleting footage of the camera For this we used the living room and two cameras. This didn’t go very well as we failed to complete this on time. The flashback part of this was the deleting footage off the camera.
evaluation
I think overall, this gal was a bit more difficult to complete than the rest as it took longer, and was more difficult to come up with an idea as it took us a while. However when we did, it ended up working out really well and it didn’t take long to film or edit. It was quite hard to know what skills I developed during this task as it was only really taking pictures and editing them together, however i did improve my mindset and how i come up with creative ideas for things. A way I would have improved this was to make the story line a bit more interesting and maybe a it longer so it would have made people want to watch it more.

the task for this was to create a photo series of events that happen in pictures. Me and jack worked together on this one and our photo was a bit getting bullied with coffee spilt on him which we did around the college with Freya’s help.
evaluation:
This task overall was quite easy to complete as it only took us about an hour to do in college and jack edited it when he got home. This was my favourite task to do. The locations we used for this was the dance studio corridor, the stairs, and the boys toilets (which jack did his part in). My role in this task was the director. Some ways we could have improved this is if we were more prepared about what we were going to do for it, and had some more ideas between us.
The Christmas ad
For this task, we had to make a John Lewis styled ad over Christmas which had an emotional element to it. We had a few weeks to plan, film and edit it. The first thing we had to do was create mood boards with the asthetic of what we think our logo was going to look like, followed with designing the actual logo. Ours was a green butterfly that moved its wings and had our name on it. Then we had to come up with a pitch about what our ad was going to be about, with a target audience and contingency plans etc that we presented to Kelly. Our idea was two friends met up at the same spot every year at Christmas, giving a gift to each other, however when they got really old one of the friends turn up however the other one does not. That is the emotional part where they think the friend has died however they were just late.This took a course of four days. The first day being teens, second being young adults, third being mellenials and fourth being the elderly. The first day took the longest as we had to also film the tree.
evaluation:
This project is the one that took the longest as it was a full acting and film project. It took a few weeks over christmas to complete. The actors in ours were Charley Hill, Holly Huggins, jane medd, pat taylor, Irene, and Rachel Peters.
